Ekphrasis 2022

Now open to members!

This event is for Writers of the Mendocino Coast members in good standing only. There are 20 slots open until May 31: 10 slots for writer initiators (artists respond to writers) and 10 for art responders (writers respond to the artwork). Slots are filled on a first come basis until slots close.

E-mail Katherine Brown (kheimannbrown@gmail.com) stating whether you want to be an initiator (or responder.

Art Initiators

Start now writing your one page story or poem.
STRICT MARGINS: 1 ½ inch top and sides
Must be 12 pt. font or larger. Writing can be single or double-spaced. You can title it and put your name on it. Katherine will remove it when it’s sent to the artist so the pairing remains anonymous until October.
Send it to Kheimannbrown@gmail.com by June 30th midnight. Document must be formatted in .doc or .docx. Ensure you edit carefully—lots of eyes will be on this. Once you submit, you can’t revise.
There will be a gala event at the Artist’s Coop, 10400 Kasten Street in Mendocino, in October for the unveiling of artwork and framed writing, side-by-side. Details coming later as we see if Covid behaves. Also, be ready to read at our WMC October meeting.

Art Responders

An image of the artwork will be sent to you in July from The Artist’s Co-op. (You can also pick up the artwork if you need 3D experience—details of this arrangement will be sent to you in July after the exchange. You will not have the title of the piece nor the artist’s name. That will be revealed in October.
You have until August 31st to write a one page story or poem.
