EKPHRASIS VII EXCHANGE


Thursday, July 19th, 6:00 p.m.

The participants will meet and exchange writing and
art with members of the Artists Co-op of Mendocino. 
  * Previous Ekphrasis writers will read their entries
with the matched art on view:

Maureen Eppstein, Harriet Gleeson, Priscilla Comen, Doug Fortier, Jay Frankston, Donald Shephard, Karen Lewis, Norma Watkins, Nona Smith, and Les Cizek

* 
Chet Boddy and Cynthia Gair will be playing and singing !

October 13th (4:30-6:00), Second Saturday, will be an event 
held at the Artists Co-op, (wheelchair accessible, yellow building on the NW corner of Albion and Kasten streets in Mendocino) to see the artwork paired with writing displayed in the gallery. Open to the public—great fun.
October 18th: Readings of the Ekphrasis pieces by both art initiator and art responder writers while the artwork is projected at our Writers of the Mendocino Coast meeting, 6:00 pm, Mendocino Hotel. Open to the public. Many of the artists also attend this event. Always a favorite. Friends and family are welcome.

​"Imperfection and
the Art of 
Writing Memoir
​and Essay"


Thursday, August 16th, 6:00 p.m.

Author and dear friend to WMC, Susan Bono will speak at the August 16th meeting on “Imperfection and the Art of Writing Memoir and Essay.” How what you don’t know can help you.

​
Susan Bono is a writing teacher and freelance editor who specializes in memoir. She edited and published Tiny Lights: A Journal of Personal Narrative from 1995 until 2014.

Two creative writing classes are being offered this fall at Mendocino College Coast Center. Students can sign up for credit Beginning and Intermediate Creative Writing,
or non-credit Creative Writing

Tuesdays 9-12 - Instructor: Molly Dwyer,

Saturdays 9-12 - Instructor: Lisa Locascio, 

PhD, Creative Writing and Literature, MA in English Literature

FORT BRAGG LIBRARY
​POETRY WRITING WORKSHOPS
AND MONTHLY POETRY OPEN MIC

The workshops include samples of the various styles and techniques of poetry writing, displays of published works, in-session writing exercises along with readings and discussions of individual works produced during the workshops.
Every third Wednesday of the month, 2-3:30 pm, find your hidden poet within! Workshops are free. All ages are welcome. Visit the library site for more.

MONTHLY POETRY OPEN MIC
Drop in on the first Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
All ages, read original poetry or another's work you are moved to share.

​We mourn the death of a past member, Heidi Altvater, who passed away at the age of 92 on June 22. A celebration of life will be held at the clubhouse of The Woods in Little River on Saturday, August 4, at 2 p.m.
