Welcome to the Mendocino Coast branch of the California Writers Club founded in 1909. We are proud to share in this legacy.
The Writers of the Mendocino Coast meet in the Mendocino Hotel at 6:00 pm on the third Wednesday of every month. We host speakers, workshops, open mics and other yet to be discovered events and activities.
Our intention is to expand the network and opportunities for writers here on the Mendocino Coast. We hope you'll join us.

Bloomsday

June 16th - First Celebration

In cooperation with Gallery Bookshop, Writers of the Mendocino Coast will join  this Bloomsday 2013 by reading from Ulysses on Sunday, June 16, from 11-4, while strolling up and down in front of the bookstore in Mendocino.

We need 10 readers, who will read for a half-hour each. Hopefully, we'll have some bits of costume for you (a jacket or hat) to make it seem more like 1904.

If you would like to volunteer, contact Norma Watkins, nwatkins@mcn.org. Deadline June 1.

Future Events

Members Open Mic

Each month we'll set aside time for two members to read for 3 minutes (375 to 500 words.) To participate, put your name in the basket. A name will be drawn at the start of the evening, and another at the end. Please time your reading before the event to ensure it's within the limit.
Second Celebration - June 19th

Mendocino Hotel - Garden Room
On June 19th, 6:00 P.M.  our third Wednesday meeting of WMC will celebrate Bloomsday by 1) reading a five-minute selection from anything Joyce wrote; or 2) reading your original five-minute piece honoring Ulysses by having as its subject--a part of the human body.

If you would like to read from Joyce or from your own work, send a copy of your selection to host Alena Guest: alenag@mcn.org.
Deadline: June 1.
