Bloomsday

First Celebration
On Bloomsday, June 16, the day Ulysses is set, people all around the world celebrate James Joyce (and all writers) by dressing up as if it were 1904, and reading from the novel.

In cooperation with Gallery Bookshop, Writers of the Mendocino Coast will join in this Bloomsday 2013 by reading from Ulysses on Sunday, June 16, from 11-4, while strolling up and down in front of the bookstore.

We need 10 readers, who will read for a half-hour each. Hopefully, we'll have some bits of costume for you (a jacket or hat) to make it seem more like 1904.

If you would like to volunteer, contact Norma Watkins, nwatkins@mcn.org. Deadline June 1.

Second Celebration

Mendocino Hotel - Garden Room
6:00 P.M.

On June 19th, at our regular monthly meeting of WMC, we will celebrate Bloomsday by 1) reading a five-minute selection from anything Joyce wrote; or 2) reading your original five-minute piece honoring Ulysses by having as its subject--a part of the human body.

If you would like to read from Joyce or from your own work, send a copy of your selection to host Alena Guest: alenag@mcn.org. Deadline: June 1.
