2016 SmatchUp, “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” Rules:
Participation is open to any WMC member in good standing.
What it is: Writers are anonymously paired to create either a story or poem (genre decided upon entering). One writer starts (one page maximum), one finishes (one page maximum), and pairs are revealed at the May 19th meeting when the finished pieces are read. Works will be posted on the website after the event.

- Starters: Have the period between March 27 and midnight April 16th to produce the start of a piece. They will e-mail their finished piece to Katherine Brown at mcwc2@att.net. Starters may use a working title, but finishers get to title the piece. Starters, no revisions sent after the initial please.
- Finishers: Have the period between April 17th and midnight May 7th to produce the end of the piece and to title it. Finishers may also do minor edits (grammar, punctuation) to the starter’s side, but may not change the story or poem developmentally. They will e-mail their finished piece to Katherine Brown at mcwc2@att.net.
